Frequently Asked Questions

What is this Coaching Model?

My mentor, Douglas Maughan CMHC, founder of Design to Develop, utilizes principles of Naturalistic Neurodevelopment, adapted to support a wider range of neurodiverse individuals. I incorporate the instructional components and intervention tools from his program as the foundation for my coaching approach.

Who Do You Collaborate With?

NND Coaching collaborates with Aspen Network as a private-pay, on-site coach. We also work with Design to Develop a therapy group that incorporates Naturalistic Neurodevelopment within their therapeutic practices.

What type of client do you typically work with?

I typically work with individuals with average to high IQ who have a diagnosis of high-functioning Autism (Asperger's), PDD-NOS, ADHD, or significant Anxiety. These clients often find that ABA services have not been effective for them. Many have attended non-public schools, alternative schools, or residential treatment centers at some point in their journey.

Is this the same as Applied Behavior Analysis?

Unlike Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Naturalistic Neurodevelopment focuses on helping clients learn to use key executive functions to intentionally develop new skills. The approach emphasizes internal motivation, effort, and a growth mindset, empowering individuals to take an active role in their own development.

Do you accept insurance &/or can I use my medical spending account?

Please note, as a coach, my services are not covered by insurance or medical spending accounts, as they do not meet the requirements for therapy or medical treatment.

Do you help with homework?

Direct tutoring on homework is not a part of the coaching process.

Where is coaching offered?

Coaching is available online throughout the United States. My home office is located in Pleasanton, California. For local clients, I typically meet in person a few times at their homes. After these initial meetings, we transition to remote sessions when appropriate
