Common Client Goals
Personal coaching is designed to unlock potential by helping clients strengthen their sense of capability and responsibility. I support clients as they discover their unique path to achieving their goals. Through this process, clients learn how to ‘rewire’ their brains, enabling them to more effectively manage and direct their own behavior.
A key component of the coaching model is educating clients about the brain’s Prefrontal Cortex and Limbic System, explaining how these systems function differently in the atypical brain. Emphasis is placed on how to foster new neural connections that enhance cognitive and emotional functioning. The ultimate goal of the coaching process is for clients to gradually develop the abilities listed below.
Self-Regulation
Learn to self-regulate by shifting from a bottom-up, reactive emotional brain state to a top-down, goal-directed thinking state.
Agency
Learn to make independent choices, rather than relying on others to make decisions for them.
Executive Functions
Learn to utilize specific executive functions and techniques to reduce emotional intensity, allowing cognitive thinking skills, rather than emotions, to drive behavior.
Problem Solving
Learn to solve problems effectively and meet needs in healthy, constructive ways.
Reasoning Abilities
Enhance overall reasoning abilities and expand the ability to see more possibilities beyond current perceptions.
Emotional Intelligence
Receive support in developing emotional intelligence to address Theory of Mind challenges.
